"The times, they are a-changin'..."
Oh, I'm so sad. My absolute favorite pair of pajama pants, the stretchy gray, saggy-butt-Captain Jack-pirate pants, are finally giving up the ghost. They've bitten the dust. They are going to meet their Maker. There are three holes on one knee that kind of look like a ghost face. They've been dying for a while now - the fabric's so thin, any attempt to patch them would do more harm than good - but I will wear them, in the privacy of my own home of course, until they are merely shreds of material no longer identifiable as what they once were. I should take a picture to commemorate all the good times. They were with me for my entire college career, through good, sane roommates and also the crazies, and even my second move to Utah...but, I guess my second move home has just proved to be too much. I think they even went to South Africa with me. Who knew that my sister's Walmart Christmas gift to me from seven-plus years ago would last so long and be such an integral part of my life? (Thanks, Brea!) They originally started as kind-of-awkward long pants, but one trip through the dryer turned them into an extra stretchy capri-like pair of saggy-butt-pirate pants. I wore those pants proudly... in public and in private, on many a Walmart trip, in front of the best of friends and the cutest of crushes. I feel like a part of me is dying inside...what will I sleep in now?!
Also, who thought Daylight Saving Time was a good idea? Not I, said the Kiely. I don't need sunlight; I need sleep! (and new pajama pants [insert frown here])
I love those pants! Many a season of Burn Notice has been watched in those pants! Once they become a small, threadbare piece of fabric you need to frame it or something. (And this is where tears slowly, yet quietly, run down my cheeks).
